Established in 1994, Donner Lake Kitchen's roots stretch back to the mid-1970s in Truckee, where it stood as one of the area's enduring culinary landmarks. Ownership transitioned hands to the current proprietors in the early '90s, imbuing the establishment with a fresh vision.

However, adversity struck in 2011 with the onset of an ADA lawsuit, precipitating a heartbreaking departure from their cherished locale. Resilience defined their journey as they resurfaced in Sierraville, CA, that same year, steadfastly preserving the essence of their menu. Despite the geographical shift, loyal patrons faithfully traversed the 25-minute drive from Truckee, underscoring the profound connection forged through culinary delight. Fortune smiled upon them in 2014 when serendipity intertwined with determination. The erstwhile site of their inception, once offered for sale, beckoned anew. Guided by the benevolent support of an "Investor Angel," the circle closed as they reclaimed their original abode.
